She graduated with a Master&#8217;s degree inanimation filmmaking from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. Her graduation film SYMPHONY NO. 42 was shortlisted for the Oscars in 2014 for Best Animated Short. Her personal films were screened at various film festivals all over the world, including three of them premiering at the Berlinale Shorts Competition (2014, 2016, 2018) and further playing in competition twice at Sundance (2015, 2016), Annecy, BFI London Film Festival and twice at SXSW (2016, 2018). Re\u0301ka\u2019s short film LOVE was nominated for Best Short Film at the European Film Awards in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Her film SOLAR WALK won the Audi Short Film Award at the Berlinale 2018, the Grand Prix at Ottawa International Animation Festival 2018, was nominated at the Annie Awards for Best Short Subject 2019 and is now part of The Criterion Channel. Re\u0301ka became a European Film Academy member in 2017 and an AMPAS member in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>She served on 18 international film festival juries, including the Berlinale Shorts International Jury 2020, Sarajevo Film Festival 2022, Shanghai International Film Festival 2024 and Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2025, where they also screened a retrospective program of her work. GLAS Animation Festival, Animateka Festival and London International Animation Festival also screened retrospective programs of her work. She works primarily for commercial studios in the city, combining this activity with the creation of independent music videos and animated short films, where she explores a more author-driven and experimental approach.<\/p>\n<p>She trained at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and later at Gobelins, l\u2019\u00e9cole de l\u2019image (Paris), two of the most prestigious animation schools in the world. During this period, she became part of the creative collective Souviens Ten-Zan, made up of twelve international artists and currently represented by Passion Pictures Paris, from where they develop both commercial projects and their own films.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout her career, Stafford has worked as a director, co-director, lead animator, or creative director on projects screened at major festivals such as Sundance, Berlinale, and Annecy. Among her most notable works is the short film The Hork (2022), selected for the Sundance Film Festival, where it competed for the Short Film Grand Jury Prize, and also nominated for Best Short Film at the Denver Film Festival and CineFest \u2013 Miskolc International Film Festival, confirming her international presence on the festival circuit.<br \/>She has also collaborated on acclaimed productions such as Solar Walk (dir. R\u00e9ka Bucsi), LOVE, and Hang On to the Night, and has contributed to series and projects with major cultural impact such as Adventure Time (Cartoon Network) and Scavengers Reign (Max \/ HBO Max).
