Isabel Herguera (San Sebastián, 1961) is a Spanish animator, director and animation producer, author of several short films such as La gallina ciega (2005), Ámár (2010), Bajo la almohada (2012) y Amore d’invierno (2015),among others. She received the Unicef ​​Award for Short Films and Documentaries for Bajo la Almohada.

In her professional career, she stands out for having been the director of the Mostra Internacional de Cinema d’Animació de Catalunya (ANIMAC), a job she carried out between 2003 and 2011. Under his direction, the contest received the National Audiovisual Prize awarded by the National Council of Culture and Arts (CoNCA).

She alternates the production activity with teaching and coordinated the Moving Image Laboratory in Arteleku (Donostia). She was also a professor at the China Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing and the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad (India). Since 2017 she has been a professor of animation at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln (Germany).

She is currently developing her first animated feature film: El sueño de la Sultana. It´s based on work with various groups of women in India, based on the classic of feminist science fiction literature of the same name.

Isabel Herguera is part of the jury for this first edition of the festival. In addition, he will receive the ACTIVISM IN ANIMATION award in recognition of his teaching practice and his social involvement with vulnerable or disadvantaged groups.
