COKE RIOBÓO
Musician, composer and animator, Coke Rioboó is one of the most vindicative voices of Spanish animation in recent decades. He has directed and animated five short films, an internet series and several commercial projects. He has also composed the soundtrack for several short films and three feature films and teaches animation in workshops around the world. A stop motion specialist, he has been interested in various aspects of the technique, such as plasticmation, plasticine on glass and miniature animation. His personal projects are a mixture of virtuosity with animation, humour and social and political commitment.
For several years he has been collaborating with AECID, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, giving workshops and animation courses in different embassies, especially in Africa and Latin America, to raise awareness about children, immigration and the exploitation of resources. He has also collaborated with NGOs such as Intermon Oxfam.
His short film El viaje de Saíd (Said’s Journey), which focuses on the drama of immigration, won the Goya for Best Animated Short Film in 2007.
